On Sunday, I came home from church and our front door was open (we put some new weather stripping on the door that makes it hard to close and stay closed). I knew the dogs had gotten out since they always seem to want to run out the door. My heart just sank..
Kelsey was over and so we searched the whole neighborhood and drove all over. I found a sign that said someone had found a small white dog and went running to the house to call. Kels had Bella in her arms and said she heard her bark at the neighbors house and they had come
Out and given her to kels. They also said they had tried to catch Mac but couldn't.
We kept looking for Mac until dark, and then I decided to make some signs to hang around the neighborhood.
This morning I got a call while I was at work from a man that lives in our same neighborhood.. He saw Mac run into the street and actually drove into the middle of the road and got out and began yelling at people to stop in an effort to stop poor little Mac from getting hit. Unfortunately there was a car that wouldn't or couldn't stop and Mac got hit.
I am grateful for this friendly neighbor that so willingly tried to save a dog that he didn't even know had am owner and then scooped him up and put him on the side of the road so animal control could take him. The man said he was getting choked up even thinking about it and having to tell me. He told me how sorry he was that he couldn't save him.
As silly as this may seem, since it was just a dog.. Mac was a member of our family and it impressed me that there are still good people in the world that are willing to help others even at their own expense. Thank you again neighbor for giving us the closure of knowing what happened to our little Mackie Mac! Rest in peace little dude! We all miss ya!
